Collection
Our collections are developed and maintained with the goal of informing, entertaining, involving and inspiring library users. We aim to ensure as diverse a collection as is practicable given the space restraints of the library and by recognising local user demographics.

Fiction This includes a wide range of genres, short stories, best sellers, the works of established and modern authors and titles that meet the needs and preferences of local users.
Non-Fiction A New Zealand focused collection, especially relevant to Māpua and the local district.
Large Print This includes both fiction and non-fiction kindly supplemented by books on loan from Tasman Libraries.
Young Adult Fiction with particular relevance to 13-18 year olds.
Children Fiction and non-fiction including board books, picture books and chapter books with the intention of meeting the reading needs of all children.
Our goal is to support a love of reading, so we are not a ‘shush’ library! The children’s area includes book bins at child-friendly heights, bean bags and a sun-drenched window seat.

Magazines We subscribe to a number of magazines including Consumer, Dish, Homespun, Let’s Travel, Lifestyle Block, NZ Gardener, NZ Geographic, NZ House & Garden, Organic NZ, and Wilderness.

Displays
The entrance foyer features a themed display of books that are available for borrowing from the display. Artwork, including photographs, multi-media paintings, textiles, local projects and craft, by local artists is displayed year round on the library walls. Children’s artwork is hung in the children’s area.
The RSA display in the foyer is permanent in recognition of their generosity.
